Sweet Shaggytuft
Stenandrium dulce

How to care for Sweet Shaggytuft
Light. Needs full sun.
Water. Keep the soil moist. It does not tolerate long dry periods, so water it in dry weather.
Soil and feeding. Grows in moist, well-drained sandy or limestone soil without much organic matter. Its nutrient needs are low, so it does well in poor soil.
Size. A tiny rosette about 1 in tall, reaching about 4 in when in flower. It grows fast.
Problems to watch. Salty wind can burn the leaves, and it does not tolerate flooding by salt or brackish water.
Good to know. A Florida native of wet pinelands and marl prairies, at home in wildflower gardens and natural landscapes. Its pink flowers can appear in any month. It is grown mostly by enthusiasts and only occasionally by native nurseries.
