Double Bloom Rangoon Creeper

Quisqualis indica

The Rangoon Creeper can be grown as a vine or trimmed to be a sprawling shrub.  It is a prolific bloomer from spring to fall, getting covered in blooms. These flowers open white in color and change to pink and then to red, making Rangoon Creeper look like it has three different colored flowers! They also have a slight but pleasant fragrance.  The variety we carry is a double bloom, meaning it has more petals and making it even more impressive.

How to care for Double Bloom Rangoon Creeper

Light. Plant in full sun. The more sun it gets, the more flowers it produces from spring through fall.

Water. Water regularly while it establishes. After that it has medium drought tolerance.

Size. Usually 4–8 ft when kept trimmed as a sprawling shrub. As a vine it is fast-growing and can reach 10–40 ft long.

Pruning. Grow it on a sturdy arbor, pergola, trellis or fence, and give it room. Young plants grown from seed may stay shrubby before they start to vine.

Good to know. Flower clusters open white, turn pink, then red over about three days, and have a pleasant scent. It is not very salt tolerant, so keep it away from salt spray. It grows best in zone 10a and warmer; after a frost or freeze it may regrow from the roots in spring.
