Pineland Snowberry
Chiococca pinetorum

How to care for Pineland Snowberry
Light. Full sun to light shade.
Water. Once established it usually survives without care and handles dry conditions. Plants in very dry soil can die in long droughts.
Soil and feeding. It needs well-drained soil and grows in sand, loam or limestone, acidic or alkaline. Its nutrient needs are low.
Size. A low, spreading groundcover 1–3 ft tall and 3–6 ft wide. Given support, it can climb to 10 ft. For a mass planting, space plants 4–5 ft apart.
Problems to watch. No serious pests; chewing insects occasionally feed on the leaves. It grows slowly.
Good to know. Native only to Miami-Dade and Monroe counties and the northern Bahamas, in pine rocklands. Flowers appear all year, turning from white to yellow, followed by white berries for birds. Salt wind may burn the leaves.
