Fernwood Mikado Snake Plant
Sansevieria Parva var. Suffruticosa
How to care for Fernwood Mikado Snake Plant
Light. Like other snake plants, it does well in bright, indirect light or with a few hours of direct sun. Harsh direct sun can scorch the leaves.
Water. Let the soil dry between waterings from spring to fall, and water only every month or two in winter. Overwatering rots the roots.
Soil and feeding. Use a well-drained mix such as Potting Soil. Salts and fluoride in tap water can brown the leaf tips; rainwater helps.
Size. Grows to about 2–4 ft.
Problems to watch. Watch for mealybugs, scale, thrips and spider mites; treat with Insecticidal Soap. Yellowing leaves can mean too much water.
Good to know. Snake plants are toxic to cats and dogs if eaten. Protect it from frost.
