Apple Blossom Cassia
Cassia javanica

How to care for Apple Blossom Cassia
Light. Grow it in direct sun for full flowering.
Soil and feeding. It needs well-drained soil and a site with little threat of freezing temperatures.
Size. Grows to about 25 ft, and trees can eventually reach 35–45 ft. It grows quickly, adding shade fast.
Pruning. Its drooping limbs and lack of a strong single trunk make it weak in wind. Prune to build structure and improve storm tolerance.
Problems to watch. It has natural resistance to pests, so problems are uncommon.
Good to know. Pink and white flowers cover the branch tips in summer, followed by foot-long dry pods. It is deciduous, but the leafless period is short. Oil from the pods may irritate skin, and cassias are moderately allergenic.
