Lantana

How to care for Lantana
Light. Needs full sun.
Water. Water regularly while it settles in. It tolerates drought once established but flowers more when watered regularly. Plant it where the soil drains well.
Soil and feeding. It does well in Florida's sandy soils and in planters. Feed lightly with a slow-release fertilizer such as Bloom Special.
Size. Grows to about 1 ft, forming a low mound that works as a small shrub or groundcover.
Pruning. Trim moderately during the growing season if it gets large or leggy. At the end of the season it can be cut back nearly to the ground; the next flush brings more flowers.
Problems to watch. Few pests or diseases bother it.
Good to know. It handles heat, salt and drought. The leaves are highly toxic to animals and the unripe berries are poisonous, so keep it away from pets and livestock.
